Our neuroscience team
We offer a vast array of services to meet the needs of neurologically impaired patients. The knowledge and expertise of neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroradiologists, physiatrists, psychiatrists, intensivists, vascular surgeons and other healthcare professionals come together at EIRMC to provide advanced neurological care.
Interventional radiology for brain disease
Our specially trained staff and interventional radiologists use state-of-the-art imaging equipment to diagnose and treat diseases of the brain. Using minimally invasive neuro-interventional procedures, we pass small catheters into the arteries and veins of the brain to treat strokes, tumors and narrowed vessels.
With our advanced technology, we combine the ability to restore circulation and remove blood clots, safely treating roughly 60 percent of all stroke patients. Such treatment minimizes brain damage due to lack of oxygen by reducing circulation and removing the clot quickly.
Other forms of technology allow us to stop blood flow while a tiny corkscrew dislodges the clot, or we use a small chisel and vacuum to break up the clot and remove it from the body. Both mechanisms are much quicker than the conventional approach of clot-busting medication alone. They can be effective hours after it's too late to intervene with just chemicals, improving our patients' odds of a positive outcome.

Neurosurgery
Neurosurgeons at EIRMC use state-of-the-art technology, allowing them to precisely track their surgical instruments in relation to patient anatomy, even as that anatomy is moving and shifting. Our system uses a high-resolution widescreen monitor giving surgeons a vivid view of navigation images, resulting in reduced risk and a quicker recovery. This sets us apart as the regional leader in our approach to neurological surgeries.
Additionally, our surgeons are the only ones in the area who perform trauma neurosurgery. They blend advanced science, skill and training to ensure our patients have the best possible chances for positive results.

Stroke care
Through our Primary Stroke Center, we provide the most advanced stroke treatment available in the area. Patients experiencing a stroke have 24/7 access to neurologists, interventional radiologists and a designated stroke team providing a coordinated response with local emergency crews.
We also offer physical therapy and rehabilitation to help patients maximize their recovery and return to the fullest level of independence possible.
