In EIRMC's ER, we treat it all. From heart attack and stroke, burn injuries, and traumatic accidents to middle-of-the-night infant fevers, we operate around the clock to take care of you and your family.

EIRMC is the most experienced and capable ER in southeast Idaho for adult and pediatric ER care. As a verified Level II Trauma Center, all EIRMC ER nurses are TNCC, PALS, and ENPC-certified (Trauma Nurse Core Course; Pediatric Advanced Life Support: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course).

Emergency doctors for adults and children

Our emergency room (ER) is usually the first stop for patient care. Our ER doctors quickly evaluate and plan treatments tailored to each patient. Our first-rate emergency medicine teams work together seamlessly to ensure unmatched critical care expertise, technology and capacity.

Patients have access to services including:

  • Advanced care units for 24/7 critical care monitoring, heart attack symptoms, cerebrovascular accidents (stroke) and traumatic and burn injuries
  • Pediatric intensive care physicians and pediatric hospitalists
  • Advanced monitoring technology, respiratory equipment and the latest medical procedures
  • Imaging services and diagnostic lab testing
  • On-call board-certified physicians from various specialties, including cardiology, neonatology, pediatrics, cosmetic and plastic surgery, otolaryngology, general surgery and physical rehabilitation therapy.
  • Skilled, critical care trained registered nurses (RNs) and medical support staff

Region's only pediatric ER

The pediatric emergency room (ER) is isolated from our main ER and has an environment designed to comfort kids. Our highly trained pediatric specialists provide gentle, expert medical care for children 24/7.

EIRMC is the first and only hospital in Idaho to earn the "expert" designation for Pediatric Care Readiness, the highest level from the state of Idaho Emergency Medical Services for Children Program (Idaho EMSC).

Our pediatric ER features:

  • Six rooms geographically isolated from the sights and sounds of the main ER.
  • Pediatric-sized equipment for children of all ages.
  • Board-certified emergency medicine physicians and board-certified pediatric intensive care physicians to treat critically injured and ill children.
  • Pediatric emergency care coordinator (PECC) involved in care.
  • ER nurses trained in pediatric advanced life support and emergency nursing pediatric courses (not standard in most ERs).
  • 24-hour parental visitation encouraged.
  • A pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), should hospitalization be necessary.

Level II Trauma Center

Our center is a verified Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and a designated Idaho Time-Sensitive Emergency (TSE) Level II Trauma Center. The designations mean we handle some of the most complex traumatic injuries and conditions, such as severe car accidents. We are also a regional trauma center which means our patients come from Wyoming, Montana and eastern Idaho.

Burn care

Our burn center is the only burn care program in the Idaho, Wyoming and Montana region. We care for basic to life-threatening injuries with a team extensively trained to care for burn patients. Services like burn intensive care, wound care, hyperbaric chamber therapy, ventilators, plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery and physical rehab therapy help patients regain independence.

Intensive care unit (ICU)

Our facility has an ICU for adults that provides high-quality around-the-clock care for patients with severe injuries or illnesses. Our ICU doctors coordinate care across EIRMC's specialties, including medical specialists, skilled registered nurses (RNs) and medical support staff.

Pediatric intensive care unit

In our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), we care for critically injured or ill children from infants to teens. As the only PICU in the region, our pediatric intensivists are specially trained in critical care medicine for kids. We also have in-house child life specialists who help children and their families understand their diagnosis, their treatment and help them cope with their fears of hospitalization.
