We work with care providers and hospitals throughout Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Utah to offer the most comprehensive and advanced pediatric care, as well as access to pediatric subspecialties for children from birth to 18 years old.

Pediatric emergency care

EIRMC offers pediatric emergency care in an area of the ER separate from adults. This means children will have less exposure to the sights and sounds of an ER that can sometimes be scary.

As a Level II Trauma Center, and Idaho’s only Burn Center, we are well-equipped to handle pediatric trauma, and major injury and illness to children.

In fact, 20% of our patients in the ER are kids!

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

EIRMC’s PICU provides critical care for children up to age 18, and treats a wide spectrum of serious illness and injury, including burns, trauma, respiratory failure, neurological conditions, bleeding disorders and more. Care is provided by Board-certified Pediatric Intensivists, with a multi-disciplinary team of specialized pediatric nurses; respiratory therapists; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; dieticians; pharmacists; and social workers.

Level III Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)

EIRMC’s Level III NICU provides the region’s most specialized care for the smallest patients, from premature infants to sick “term” newborns. We are equipped to care for babies born as early as 22 weeks gestation in the 27-bed unit. Board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and registered nurses specialized in neonatal care work in the hospital full-time focused exclusively on the care of the most fragile infants.

Pediatric Surgery

At EIRMC, our pediatric surgeon provides experienced, expert surgical care from routine to highly complex procedures. We offer the region’s first and only pediatric surgery program for infants, children and teens. Additionally, we have the region’s only dedicated pediatric anesthesiologist to keep your child safe in the operating room.

Inpatient Behavioral Health Center (BHC)

EIRMC offers two inpatient adolescent treatment programs. The adolescent acute care program provides intensive inpatient treatment for teenagers who are experiencing psychiatric emergencies or who need comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment. Teton Peaks Girls Residential Treatment program is a program for adolescent girls who need require long-term mental and behavioral treatment in a secure environment.

General pediatrics

Our 10-bed Pediatrics unit cares for newborns to children up to age 18 who are recovering from serious illness or surgery. The unit is home to a highly specialized pediatric medical staff available 24/7, including pediatricians and nurses.

Pediatric therapies

Pediatric Therapies (speech, occupational, and physical) are provided in an "early intervention" outpatient setting, as well as for inpatients in the NICU, PICU, and Pediatric floor. We work one-on-one with children from newborn to 21 years old who have mild to severe disabilities. Our Outpatient Therapies has individual treatment rooms, two gyms and a kitchen to best meet the needs of children.

Ronald McDonald Room at EIRMC

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at EIRMC is a comfortable and supportive environment for families with ill or injured children. The Family Room provides a place to relax, eat, shower, and sleep for families with sick children, all within the walls of the hospital.
