Dr. Scott Needham is a Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with nearly 25 years of experience treating patients with conditions affecting the heart. Among the many services he provides, he has special expertise in minimally invasive valve surgeries, the Mini-Maze procedure and CABG surgeries.
Dr. Needham completed his medical training at the University of Health Sciences, The Chicago Medical School and did his residencies at the Dwight Davie Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia, and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. He has returned to Idaho where he earned his undergraduate degree at Boise State University. He has been a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at EIRMC since December 2014 and has been involved with TAVR both at EIRMC and his previous hospital in Billings, MT. He completed Fundamentals Training with Edwards in 2013 at their facility in Irvine, CA.
Dr. Edward Setser is a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with nearly 20 years of experience. He practices all phases of adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, pulmonary resection and carotid endarterectomy among many others.
Dr. Setser is a native of North Carolina and attended medical school at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. He completed his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed Fundamentals training with Edwards in November 2015 at their facility in NYC, New York. He has been a Cardiovascular Surgeon at EIRMC since January 2015.
Dr. John Lassetter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, and he holds his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology at the University of Utah Medical Center. As a board-certified cardiologist with more than 30 years of medical experience, Dr. Lassetter diagnoses and treats disorders of the circulatory system and the cardiovascular system—the heart, arteries and veins. Using the latest and state-of-the art technology, he provides initial diagnostic services, including basic cardiology evaluations, consultations, stress tests, heart pathology, and arrhythmia detection. He was an Interventional Cardiologist at EIRMC from 2005-2008, and presently, since 2012.
Dr. John Chambers is Board Certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is boarded in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and is HSRI certified. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. His internship in Internal Medicine was completed at the University of Nevada - Reno. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. In 1997, he formed the Idaho Heart Institute in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He has been an Interventional Cardiologist at EIRMC since 1997.
Dr. Douglas Blank is Board certified in Cardiology, and received his medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his residency at the University of Utah Medical Center. He returned to the University of Nebraska Medical Center to complete his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease. As a Junior Faculty Member with emphasis on heart failure and cardiac transplantation, he was promoted to Assistant Professor. He ran the Heart Failure and Transplant program at University of Nebraska Medical Center prior to moving to Idaho Falls to join Idaho Heart Institute. He has been actively involved in heart failure clinics since 1999, with a strong interest in refractory heart failure. He has been a cardiologist at EIRMC since 1999.
