Sam Johnson, RN | June 2020

Nominated by a patient

My sister was brought with multiple organ failure. Today with Sam's help, we made the difficult decision to end care for my sister. Due to COVID19 none of our family was able to come from California. Sam made it possible to help us with phone calls so that my siblings and her children could say goodbye to our loved one. He then walked us through the process of removing the ventilator and comfort care. He is truly an exceptional nurse. I cannot thank him enough for all he did to lessen our suffering.

Nominated by a family member

My father is in the ICU for COVID. And there have been a number of amazing nurses, but by far Sam has gone out of his way to make my dad comfortable and well cared for. He even goes out of his way to facetime us since we can't be there. He is the most compassionate nurse I have ever been in contact with. He takes his time and is very gentle and caring with our dad. Even when explaining things to us on facetime he is understanding of our situation and concerns. He deserves the DAISY award! Thank you Sam!

Noemi Rivas, RN | February 2020

Noemi - my angel nurse

Noemi cared for me 4 of the 10 days I stayed in the hospital. I received great care from many nurses, but Noemi was outstanding. I had knee surgery, a staph infection needing frequent antibiotics, as well as blood transfusions. She spent a lot of time with me giving needed care and procedures. She was always smiling, happy and positive and was a ray of sunshine every time she entered my room. She was patient and kind, smart and very skilled. She was especially attentive the day I received blood and plasma. I was sorry to say goodbye on her last day before I was discharged. It was like saying goodbye to a good friend.
