Living away from a big city can have its perks: being closer to nature, living a more rural lifestyle and having more space. This rural, small-town lifestyle fits the mold of many Idahoans’ lives, and years ago this would have meant sacrificing access to health care and specialists. But not any longer. Telemedicine is on the rise throughout the United States and the world. It serves an important, life-saving role for patients in rural areas by connecting them with specialists and doctors they wouldn’t have access to otherwise. EIRMC utilizes telemedicine in our hospital, and also provides telemedicine services to smaller rural facilities in our region.
