With its expansive ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care and rich history in the community, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center reflects the growth and development of Idaho Falls and its changing healthcare needs. EIRMC now offers state-of-the-art care to more than 300,000 people across the region and continues to develop its services to benefit patients and their families.
In Idaho Falls, the city’s first hospital was established in 1906. For the next eighty years, additional hospitals were built, expanded, merged and sold. During the 1980s, local physicians wanted to establish a regional medical center to not only serve Idaho Falls but also growing communities in surrounding areas. On December 22, 1986, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center opened its doors, and the two facilities serving Idaho Falls closed. Physicians no longer had to cross town to see patients at two different hospitals.
For the past thirty years, EIRMC has focused on its mission to improve patient lives. With the support of its corporate parent, HCA, its facility has expanded to include a Level II Trauma Center Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center, Heart Center and Atrial Fibrillation Clinic as well as a Spine Center. The medical center has grown to become the leading neonatal and pediatric care provider in the region. Additionally, the EIRMC Behavioral Health Center is a 74-bed freestanding hospital that provides inpatient care for adults and adolescents.
With 318 patient beds, EIRMC now serves Idaho Falls and surrounding communities as well as southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park and parts of Montana. EIRMC delivers specialized care to people who live and work in the city – close to home.
