PGY1 Residency at EIRMC

Residency Program Description

This residency program prepares pharmacists as clinicians for patient care positions and for PGY2 training. Our 12-month pharmacy practice residency is carefully structured to provide experience in core areas of hospital pharmacy.

We provide outstanding clinical practice opportunities to increase knowledge base and confidence level in the areas of pharmacy practice and medication distribution.

EIRMC offers experiences in a broad area of pharmacy practice including:

• Internal Medicine

Critical Care (adult and neonatal)

Nutritional Support

Infectious Disease

Cardiology

• Pain Management

Administration

The resident participates in multidisciplinary rounds on inpatient service, presents formal lectures and in-services, and participates in special projects throughout the hospital. The resident may also collaborate with Idaho State University College of Pharmacy clinical faculty and precept pharmacy clerkship students.

Program Requirements

In addition to successful completion of core training modules, the resident must complete a resident research project for presentation at the Western States Conference for Pharmacy Residents, and complete 40 hours of staffing per month, including one major holiday and two minor holidays.

Stipend

Competitive resident stipend and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans; paid time off; and professional travel reimbursement. 

Eligibility & Application

• Completion of ACPE-accredited Pharm.D. program

• Eligibility for licensure in Idaho

• Official college transcripts

• Current Curriculum Vitae

• Detailed letter of intent, including:

  • interest in a residency at EIRMC
  • strengths you bring to the program
  • your personal and professional goals
  • your ideal learning environment and/or ideal residency experience

• Three professional letters of reference: recommending individual must sign across the seal of the envelope.

• On-site interview

• Registration and participation in the ASHP Resident Matching Program (http://www.ashp.org/)
