Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer
As the Ethics and Compliance Officer, Rick contributes to the company’s mission and vision by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining company and facility ethics and compliance programs, policies, and procedures. He ensures that facility programing is in harmony with both the corporation’s Ethics & Compliance program, as well as requirements of State and Federal health care programs. His role as Risk Manager turns his attention to administering an enterprise risk management program on a day-to-day basis designed to promote patient safety while minimizing loss and protecting the assets of the facility. This requires that he coordinate insurance coverage, manage liability claims, interface with defense counsel and conduct risk management education programs, all with complying with risk management related Joint Commission standards, and/or those of other accrediting and regulatory agencies.
Rick holds a MBA in Healthcare Management and a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology. As a 20-something college student, Rick was a passenger in a devastating car accident that took the lives of two close friends and caused massive trauma injuries for a third. The experience was lifechanging for him. As he participated in his friend’s struggle through lengthy rehabilitation from her head injury, Rick was inspired to change course and focus his college studies not on becoming a CPA, but instead on head injury rehabilitation. The financial field’s loss is the distinct gain for the patients he has served.
Rick has been at EIRMC since 2002, and the accomplishments in his 28 year career in health care continue to grow. He was promoted to EIRMC’s Administrative team in 2012. His responsibilities and focus became Ethics, Compliance, and Risk Management in January of 2016.
Rick is a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoys long motorcycle camping rides, and rides to work whenever the weather allows. He lives to play tennis, but also loves yard work, and sitting quietly and reading a good book under the warm sunshine. He has been married to his wife, Becky, for 28 years and together they have four grown children.
